A continuous drainage strategy, including scuppers and downspouts, reduces hydrostatic pressure on membranes. Aim for a roof gradient of about 1% to 2% to guide water toward drains. Regularly inspect joints and fix any debris buildup that could impede flow around the storage cabinet.
Sealants and coatings
Sealants and coatings protect joints, edges, and the cabinet footing from water ingress. Choose sealants compatible with both concrete and metal components of roof structures and storage solutions. Apply coatings that resist UV and temperature fluctuations to prolong service life around outdoor storage cabinets.
Periodic maintenance includes reapplying sealant at least every 5 to 7 years depending on climate. Check cabinet interfaces for cracking or peeling coatings and address promptly. Keep a routine inspection calendar to catch early signs of moisture intrusion before damage spreads.
